Growing up in Compton WASN'T an easy job. Every day I feared being jumped, shot, or kidnapped so I never really walked out of my home during my early childhood. Once I entered Middle School I was able to see the world differently, I took my city as a challenge. I told myself I will no longer be bullied by a City I grew up in as a child and I will not become a statistic of Compton. I had no one to look up to as a child as I had a broken family, everyone fighting, divorce all over the place, and only women as role models. All of the males in my family became a statistic and gave me first-hand experience of what the city could do to you if you let it consume you.
Most people would be scared and WOULDN'T challenge a city, most would coward away from the challenge. Luckily I was able to meet friends who joined me in this challenge but sadly some of them were not able to get passed middle school. I saw as they failed their classes, I tried to help me but it was only bringing me down. They had me doing most of their work but I had enough of that. I decided to stick with those who could hold their own and as of today we still hang out together. All of us with similar backgrounds divorced family, illegal, or general family issues.
My friends were the foundation that supported my success. All of them have helped me as I have helped them whether it was on school issues or personal. I have to follow my aspirations in order to become a successful person. You also have to become who you want to be and not let anything or anyone tell you otherwise. a Lot of people will try to live life through you but that doesn't work out sadly they had their chance and now it's yours to live.True success means you have to SACRIFICE valuable things in order to achieve something else. Now that i am following the right path i know what my meaning of success is. My Meaning of success is to do what you have planned and achieve the goals you set. Not everyone follows through with their goals but i will and i am determined more than ever before to get through college and become an independent person.
